I've always been very proud of the fact that I've never dyed my hair. Lately, I've been wondering what it would be like to give my hair a little lift. It's been going progressively darker...and the darker it gets, the more depressed I feel. The greys around my temple are becoming more and more prominent...a sure sign that I'm aging, and I'm just not ready! I've also been well overdue for a hair cut....ratty ends and no life in my hair. Here's what I've been working with...talk about blah! No wonder I've been wearing it up in a messy "mum bun" every day.
Time to bite the bullet. I made an appointment at The Fox and The Hair with the lovely Mikarlie. It's been years since I stepped foot inside an actual hairdressers salon...and my judgement was based solely on three factors:
- The Fox and The Hair facebook page looked really nice
- They're located around the corner from my office
- They have nice wallpaper
So, as you can see, I did huge research before hand. lol. I'm a pretty trusting person. For my first experience at dying my hair, Mikarlie suggested I not go too crazy with the colour...just some blonde highlights and a bit of pink. Sounds good to me! The whole process was pretty relaxing...chatting away with the ladies in the salon, taking in everything that was going on on top of my head, and most importantly, having my head massaged whilst she washed my hair. That alone is worth gold!
Mikarlie was spot on with the cut and colour. I'm loving being a blonde again, and the light pink through the ends is making me super happy! She also taught me how to do curls with a hair straightener. I hope I can replicate it. It never looks the same when you do it yourself. Here's the end result...
I can't believe the difference! The photo on the left was taken yesterday morning before my appointment. My long, straight, natural hair was doing nothing for me anymore. Loving my new look...I'm feeling way more adventurous now, and I'm busting to get some Color Bug chalks to run through the ends of my hair. Here's to fun hair!
This morning, I looked in the mirror and had to do a double take! Who on earth is that blonde woman staring back at me? lol. The main question is...why did I wait so long?
