With the end of financial year, comes the mid year sales, and Target's biggest toy sale is the place to go! Last night I joined in the fun and frivolity of the Target VIP night...searching for bargains, playing along with the twitter scavenger hunt, and spending some fun shopping time with Anorina from Samelia's Mum.
Tip 1...bring your Target catalogue, or grab one as you enter the store, and then grab a trolley...you are going to need one! Last night we saw people pushing trolleys with toys piled higher than their heads, I kid you not.
Tip 2...wear comfortable shoes...you won't just do one trip around Target! There are toys everywhere!! Don't just stick to the usual toy area. We found great toy bargains mixed in with the bedding, homewares, shoes, you name it. Anorina and I were going back and forth, back and forth, trying to make up our minds as to what to buy for the kids.
Tip 3...take a bottle of water. This is thirsty work people. We shopped for nearly three hours! lol. I don't normally spend that amount of time in the whole shopping centre, let along one store.
Onto the shopping...
I didn't have the benefit of having the catalogue delivered to my house before the sale, so I downloaded the Target app, and the kids perused that before I headed out the door. Eme would happily have had one of everything. lol. On her final wishlist was a Barbie DS game and the Crayola Catwalk Creations pack, which came with a bonus Rock Chic Fabrics pack. Done. The line for the games counter was HUGE...with parents layby-ing games and consoles galore for their kids for Christmas. Anorina and I did a few laps of the store until the line died down a bit...a much better strategy than waiting there for an hour or so.
Seth's list was a little more difficult. He couldn't decided between Lego or Skylanders, so I made the decision for him. The Ninjago Lego aisle had been cleared out by the time we found it...just 30 minutes after the sale opened! As a compromise, I picked up this super cute (imho) Kai alarm clock for him. Kai can either sit or stand (around 1 foot tall), has a removable sword, and has an alarm that can be heard from the other end of the house (as I found out this morning). Seth loves it!! To be fair, I also picked up the Zoo Resort 3DS game for him.
Target has great book packs on sale too, so I picked up some for the kids. I'm always looking for fun and interesting novels to encourage their reading. This morning over breakfast, they both opened their new books and started reading. Happy Days!!
Target provided some gift cards to the kids and I to enjoy the launch of Target's biggest toy sale, and we had a ball! Now it's your turn...
I have a $50 Target gift card to give away!!
To enter, check out the Target toy sale catalogue, complete the rafflecopter entry form, and let me know what you like to purchase and why...
Good luck! Entries close midnight, Sunday 24 June 2012.
