Fake it...until you make it...

This has been a huge week for me, both mentally and physically. I have been so overwhelmed with such kind comments, emails and phone calls from friends and strangers, supporting me in my upcoming journey to become healthier. I really can't say thank you enough.  Your messages mean more to me than words can ever say. When I wrote this post, I was just putting it out there and being honest with you...and myself. Releasing it into the world wide web has lifted a weight off my shoulders.

I feel like I've changed as a person this week, and am in an entirely different head space. There were a number of pre-season tasks to complete before commencing the Michelle Bridges 12WBT season on 4 June 2012, and they were a real eye opener for me, particularly setting a list of goals. I never write goals for myself, but I sat down and assessed what it is I actually want to achieve in the next 1-12 months.  I have set myself a goal of losing 1-2kg a week and exercising at least 4 times a week. Those I can achieve by following the nutrition plan and exercise plans I've been provided.  I've set other visual mini goals for myself like fitting into my new denim skirt (which I can't even get close to zipping up yet), wearing my wedding and engagement rings again, and getting back into 120's on the scales.

I have set mid and long term goals as well. Getting back into my polka dot dress (the outfit I wore the last time I felt good about myself), going to the beach with the kids, riding a bike from Wollongong to Bulli, and eventually participating in the Sutherland to Surf next year...whether that is as a walker or runner is yet to be determined.  All of these will be achievable if I remain focused on my goals.

One obstacle I've overcome is finding something to actually work out in. Best and Less had some 3/4 pants I can actually fit my bum into...I might have to get another couple of pairs. It makes all the difference when you feel comfortable. We've also invested in an elliptical trainer for the home. I absolutely hate the gym and I love that Michelle has exercise programs designed for at home and outdoors. Andrew and I will both be using it at home for are cardio workouts. I can't wait for it to be delivered.

Every Wednesday and Friday, the footy mums and I sit around chatting while we wait for the boys to finish training. The week we decided to make better use of our time, and go walking around the oval instead. Yesterday I dusted off my joggers, pulled on the new 3/4 pants and was off on our first walk. I managed 2.3km in 1/2 hour and burned 376 calories. Not too bad, but definitely something I can build on.

The nerves I was feeling at the beginning of the week have turned into a little bit of confidence and excitement.  I'm not 100% there yet, but as they say...you've got to fake it until you make it. Small continuous steps.

Have a great week everyone!
