I've been bugging hubby for ages to repaint to lounge room. We last painted it sometime between the births of Seth and Eme, so probably 6ish years ago. It was well and truly overdue! There were marks and dings all over those walls thanks to two little children who like to ride scooters through the house, and play with markers. lol. Its a big job to repaint an open plan house. You can't just do the lounge room, because its attached to two hallways, a dining space and kitchen.
The catalyst though was last month. The ceiling leaked. Big time. We poked a pencil through the gyp rock to let the water out and managed to fill two 9L pots! Thankfully my Dad is incredibly handy and came down to help Andrew fix the damage. Now, obviously that meant we had to paint the ceiling...may as well do the walls at the same time!
The photo above shows the new colour... Dulux's "Antarctica White" quarter strength. The walls were already a pale blue, but I wanted a really pale duck egg blue...a grey/green blue if you will...shut up, I know what I mean! lol. Andrew spent three days painting last week and voila! So happy!
My next trick was to put up some wall art. I fell in love with some chocolate brown vinyl wall art from EAD Designs last year and have been waiting to put it up once we repainted (yes, its taken that long). Its a pretty bold piece measuring 9'x5' and its the first thing you see when you walk through the hallway. I think its going to take a little getting used to, but I love it! It was really easy to apply too. It comes in separate pieces so that you can create your own forest look. The little birdies are so sweet. btw - Don't you love my new floor accessory? The yellow floor towel is a must in every home...ok, maybe not...maybe I need to teach the kids to hang up their towels before I take a photo! lol.
To dress it up, I rehung our paintings and added another birdy on top of one of them. A rusted "W" hung from the tree was the final piece to the puzzle. I don't think I can fit anything else on that wall. hehe. With everything back in place, its time to start hanging out in the lounge room again. I was watching Eme and Andrew the other night lying together on the lounge, and it was so sweet, I had to take a picture. Eme was busy telling Andrew that her Barbie had party hair...he was acting interested. Ahhh, such is the life of a dad to a little girl.
What colour is your living space? I'm always interested to know why people pick the colours they do. For me, its blue all the way. Its so calming. Must be the Pisces in me...

Very nice! We have so much work to do around here! We just finally picked a color for the trim on our house. We ended up picking a warm chocolate.

lets try again....
my favourite colour is blue, always has been, so when we first bought everything was blue. When we last renovated we changed the lounge room to a vibrant deep red feature wall with chocolate lounge and I LOVE IT.
