Scribble Shop challenge...the results!

Welcome back to the Scribble Shop challenge! Today you'll find out exactly what it is I created with the contents of the challenge box.

I have been pondering the contents for a number of days, and watching as each of the other participants revealed their projects...wondering what to do.  This is one seriously creative group! I wanted to create something that truly reflected my crafty style, and for me, that is a scrapbooking project.  Scribble Shop has a huge range of scrapbooking products, available under the category of "Memory Lane" on their site. It sounded so inviting, I decided to take a trip down memory lane to see what other products they had, that I could incorporate with the Scribble Shop challenge box.  Just to remind you...this is what I was sent...

Here's what I created! A layout documenting my nephew's first Easter egg experience...corrupted by his Aunty Lisa...lol.

Here's how...
First, I created the background by dabbing the chalkboard paint across my cardstock, and spreading it out with an old store card.  Once dry, I misted over the top using the tile texture template with white Mister Huey's mist.  By layering paint and mists, I was able to add more dimension to my plain background. Whilst this was drying, I started making my embellishments.

I created three flowers for my project. The first flower was made using the wrappers from the Ferrero Rochers...unfortunately I had to eat them to get the wrappers...shame. lol.  I layered the wrappers, then fixed them together with a glitter brad. The edges of the flower were snipped with Martha Stewart fringe scissors.

I made the second flower using the tissue paper the products were wrapped in. I punched out a dozen scalloped circles and layered them together, fixing them in the centre with another glitter brad.  The layers have been gathered to add dimension to my bloom.

To create the third flower, I first punched out a cardstock circle, and cut strips of fabric.  The circle was coated in Helmar's fabric glue, then starting from the centre of the circle, I added the strips of fabric...twisting them as I went around.

Next, I adhered a doily printed fabric to white cardstock using spray adhesive. Once dry, I rolled the fabric through my Cuttlebug using a Tim Holtz "on the edge" doily die.  The cardstock adds more weight to the fabric, and enables a cleaner cut from the die.

Now that my embellishment were created, it was time to start assembling my layout.  First, I trimmed out the hexagonal shape from the fabric and adhered them vertically down the layout. Next, I tore a strip of polka dot patterned paper, and attached it across the centre. I then created a scalloped piece, which I trimmed from part of the cardboard box the challenge supplies came in.  The diecut doily shapes were added next, and then the photos of my gorgeous nephew enjoying his first Easter egg.  The photos measure approximately 2.5" x 2.5".

Once the base was complete, it was time to embellish.  The flowers I created were clustered over the top of the cardboard, together with feathers and wool roving.  After fixing the fabric leaves and butterfly to cardstock with spray adhesive, I trimmed them out and glued them to my layout.  I then added my title, hand written journaling and a doodled border around the edge of my layout. The finishing touch was a little glitter added to the butterfly, with the wings folded up to add dimension.

There you have it! My completed project.  I really enjoyed the Scribble Shop challenge and I'm really happy with the end result.  I love that the contents of the box made me think outside what I normally do.
