I saw this Christmas meme on Tina Gray {dot} me and just had to play along! Here we go...
- Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Although egg nog is pretty tasty (and boozy), I do prefer a good hot chocolate...or should that be an iced chocolate for those of us celebrating Christmas during summer?...
- Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa wraps all of the presents for the kids and puts them inside their individual Santa sacks beside the tree. Santa always makes sure he picks a different wrapping paper to mummy and daddy. lol.
- Coloured lights on tree/house or white? I like a bit of both...love all the colours equally twinkling away. Our tree currently has around 900 lights!
- Do you hang mistletoe? No...I haven't found one that looks nice enough...since I can't get it fresh, I'm not going to settle for a poor looking plastic substitute. If anyone knows where I can get a good looking one in Australia; please hook me up.
- When do you put your decorations up? On 25 November each year...except this year because we were at Nathan and Racheal's wedding (yay!)
- What is your favourite holiday dish? There's a few things I like to eat every Christmas...chocolate coated almonds, roast pork and crackling, baked potatoes and gravy. I don't really have a favourite "holiday dish" as such.
- Favourite Holiday memory as a child? Its not one particular memory...but every Christmas morning when I was a child. My sister and I would wake up mum and dad about 5.30am. The louver doors to the lounge room would be closed and we were never allowed to peek. Dad would let us through, then hand out the presents. Once they were all dished out, we could begin to open them. There'd be wrapping paper flying everywhere! Mum would watch us with a smile on her face. I get that look on my face now when I watch my own children open their presents.
- When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? In kindergarten aged 5...a class mate told me, but I kept it secret from my little sister so that it wouldn't be ruined for her. I also didn't let on to mum and dad so that "Santa" would still keep delivering! I still believe in the spirit of Santa...its so magical.
- Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Never. Its always bright and early Christmas morning. I do however give the kids a new set of pj's to wear...mostly so they'll be coordinated for the crazy Christmas photos in the morning.
- How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I'm incredibly anal and methodical about it...there's a blog post coming...watch this space.
- Snow! Love it or Dread it? I wish it snowed for Christmas here...just once.
- Can you ice skate? I've only tried once, and ended up with many bruises.
- Do you remember your favourite gift? Every year, "Santa" would bring my sister and I, a new school bag and stationery supplies, which I loved. Nothing like a fresh set of coloured pencils to get the creativity flowing. I guess that was one way of reducing the back to school costs.
- What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with my family.
- What is your favourite Holiday Dessert? Bakers Delight mince pies with cold custard...on the side.
- What is your favourite holiday tradition? Decorating the Christmas tree, walking around the neighbourhood to check out all the Christmas lights, and attending the kids' school Christmas concert.
- What tops your tree? An angel. She has a cream skirt with gold jacket and a spray of gold coming out from behind her. This will be her 11th Christmas on top of our tree.
- Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I much prefer giving. I like to see the joy on people's faces when the open their gifts.
- What is your favourite Christmas Song? That's a hard one...I love Christmas carols! It would have to be "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
- Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Yum...if you get a good one...not those cheap, chalky tasting, crappy ones
- Favourite Christmas Show? Its a tie between "Elf" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation".
- Saddest Christmas Song? My Grown Up Christmas List...
