De-clutter 52 Things

This totally ties into my one little word for 2011. DISCOVER what its like to have a tidy house and to be more organised!

I came across the Organised Housewife via Tina's blog and this challenge really spoke to me. The premise is to declutter 52 things from my home. I really do need to purge a load of stuff from our house and I could totally do way more than 52!  As there's 52 weeks in the year, I plan on concentrating on one item/area each week.  Here's the rules:

• De-clutter, meaning throw away, give to charity/friend, find a better purpose for.
• Disposing of groups of things =1 item eg. 5 towels or 3 coffee mugs classes as ’1 item/thing’
• Feel free to go beyond 52 items!!

Simple enough.  Let's start...

1. 6/1/11 Four bags of clothing donated to charity
2. 8/1/11 Three seater lounge and two armchairs gifted to a friend to make way for a new lounge suite

3. 23/1/11 Put away the Christmas tree (finally) and culled the Christmas ornaments as I went. Reduced box of ornaments from three to two. Emptied top shelf of linen press and found new homes for tree and ornament boxes, and put them away...phew!
4. 18/2/11 Sorted through bakeware drawer and donated 6 old cake tins. Only kept Chef's Toolbox silicone bakeware.
5. 19/2/11 Sorted through serving platters and bowls. Relocated the ones I wanted to keep into our new buffet, and donated 5 to charity. Placed "good" cutlery into new buffet and discarded the box to make more room in the pantry.
6. 20/2/11 Gave our old knife block and 12 knives to the in laws to use in their caravan. One less thing now on the bench. 
7. 28/3/11 Donated 6 bags of clothing to the Salvation Army 
8. 29/3/11 Sorted through my medicine cabinet and discarded expired meds 
9. 29/3/11 Discarded six coffee cups from set I hate but have been hanging on to. 
10. 24/4/11 Emptied out baking drawer and culled all non Chef's Toolbox baking silicones
11. 26/4/11 Decluttered the third drawer, disposing of multiples
12. 15/4/11 Removed three bags of old toys from playroom
13. 15/4/11 Threw away old bbq table and chairs
14. 15/4/11 Removed plants from pots and planted them in the garden; threw out pots
15. 15/4/11 Packed all outdoor toys back into chest and threw away broken ones
