Scrapbook Savvy - "Remember" cybercrop!

The Scrapbook Savvy "Remember" cybercrop started last night and I've already done 3 out of the 4 challenges! The challenges are so much fun this month!!

My challenge
Extreme Makeover - Layout Edition

I set the challenge to makeover an older layout. I chose to redo this one, which I first created back in August 2003 at a Creative Memories party. I was rockin' those strips and triangles at the time!! lol.
I still love the photos of baby Sethy-boy playing with his favourite toy, and I thought I could redo the layout better. Crate Paper's "Seasons" range was just perfect for this layout and I must say, I much prefer the second version to the first. lol.
Kerryn's Challenge
For Kerryn's challenge, the criteria were simple...create a layout using a song title or lyrics...the only catch being the song/lyrics had to be older than 1990! We had fun last night googling songs from the 80's, and this Guns n Roses song seemed just perfect for this sweet photo of Eme.
Sara's Challenge
For this one, we had to create a layout using the the word remember somewhere on the page and it had to be visible; use a minimum of 3 colours, not including black and white and add journaling - at least 4 lines. This layout is about my cousin's daughter Brooklyn who is just a cutie with gorgeous red hair. We don't get to see her very often, so I wanted to remember how adorable she is now that she's 9 mths old. Once again, I've used "Seasons" by Crate Paper which is available in the Savvy store right now.
Kayla has also set a sketch challenge and its a fav. 6x4 sketch! I can't wait to tackle that one tonight.

Come and join in the fun
...your takes on the challenges have to be uploaded by midnight (EDST) Thursday 26 November 2009.

Hope you're having a great weekend! Last night I went to the Savvy midnight crop and got home after 1am...then the kids and a telephone call woke me up early. Feeling surprisingly good for the lack of sleep. Early night tonight I think. We've Spring cleaned the kids bedrooms and will tackle another cleaning project soon. Better get back to it!

Cheers, Lis.

Scrapbook Savvy DT reveal...

This month at Scrapbook Savvy, I got to play with the delightful "Seasons" range by Crate Paper! I just love this range!! The papers are so easy to use and the coordinating diecut chipboard and stickers are incredibly inspiring. The colours are fresh, but lean towards to the warm side and are suitable for a number of themes and projects.I teamed the Seasons range with these items found in the Savvy store!

Layout 1: Cousins and Friends

For this layout I kept the background fairly simple and added interest and dimension with the chipboard shapes and Prima flower. I have popped the chipboard up on foam tape to layer the elements. To create a border, I journaled around the outside of the layout. That love heart paper is so fun, and the reverse side is a delicious blue stripe that I've set aside for another layout.
...here's a closeup.

Layout 2: Rain or Shine
I loved the look of this rain cloud patterned paper, but I didn't want to go down the obvious road of rainy day photos. Using a clever title, I've been able to create a layout about the love between Eme and her Poppy. I've clustered the chipboard and diecut stickers around the photo. The adhesive on them is really strong too, so no fear it will fall off in the future.
...here's a closeup.
I have another of couple of layouts to photograph, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can purchase this range from the Savvy store right now!

This Friday sees the start of this month's Scrapbook Savvy Cybercrop! The theme is "Remember" and there are plenty of challenges planned, fun to be had and prizes to be won! Come and join us from 6pm tomorrow.

Hope to see you there!

Inspired Blueprints - Sketch #36

Now back to regular programming...lol. Sketch 36 has just been revealed at Inspired Blueprints and I know how much you all like sketches using standard sized photos! This sketch is just for you...The DT have created some gorgeous layouts and our guest designer this sketch is the incredibly talented and inspiring Layle Koncar! Come check out the IB blog!! Here's my take. I have added more EAD Designs rubons; our sponsor for this month. These photos were taken last year by Janine Kaye, and I've been meaning to scrap them forever! Well, this Christmas is coming very fast, so time to scrap the last one. lol.
In other news...Sethy-boy lost his first tooth yesterday...very exciting times indeed. His tooth had been wobbly for ages and yesterday when he was eating an apple he said it was hurting a bit, so I gave it a wiggle and a yank and out it came. I was sitting there with his tooth in my fingers yelling "YOU LOST YOUR TOOTH!!!". He looked at me with a mix of disbelief and excitement, then it clicked. I told him to run outside and show Daddy; but Andrew was greeted with a boy flailing his arms in the air, yelling, with blood coming out of his mouth! Poor Andrew thought he'd been injured. lol. The tooth fairy came last night and left a very generous $5 for him (a bit different to the 20c she used to bring me!!). lol. The tooth beside it is wobbly too, so no doubt the tooth fairy will be making another appearance soon. Look at that toothy grin!
...and just because she's absolutely adorable...here's a pic of Eme taken yesterday. Love how she's rockin' that headband.
Ciao for now, Lis.

to write love on her arm...

...you were created to love and be loved. You were meant to live life in relationship with other people, to know and be known. You need to know that your story is important and that you're part of a bigger story. You need to know that your life matters.

This is the mission...

Struggling with depression is not easy...today I will remind myself to love and to accept love; to never give up and to know that one day everything will be okay! Today, I will wear this with pride. Today, I will wear this for all those suffering and for those who's journeys ended all too soon.

mwah, Lis.

Work in progress...

You may have read here that I'm redecorating/reorganising my scraproom...well, I wanted to show you part of the room that is finished so far. My kids just love coming into my scraproom when I'm creating, so I decided to dedicate a space just for them. Hopefully this will help them stop touching all my stuff! lol. We picked up these little lift top desks and chairs from Seth's school for the bargain price of $2 each!! They've put their colouring-in books and scrap paper inside the desks. I love watching them sitting there creating. Every afternoon the kids have asked if they can go in there...well the rest of the room is a disgrace, so NO, not at the moment.
There are little touch lights attached to the underside of the book shelf to give the kids extra light when they're working. I have also placed the red mats under their desks to help stop damage to the carpet when they drop textas and inks and paints etc. Andrew installed the rail and pots underneath the book shelves so that we could house the kids pencils, textas and decorative scissors up off the desks. Its nice to have a clear work surface! There is also a new red bin to go under the desk. I'm doing well buying within my room elements of red, tan, chocolate and white. lol.
Well, that's it so far. My rug is being delivered tomorrow, and I really need to cull some stuff before it goes on the floor. So far I've half filled the large recycling bin! The chair I bought recently just needs a sand and stain, then that can go in place. I've also decided what size desk I want...so looks like another trip to Ikea is on the cards soon. I can't wait to show you the finished room! Hopefully soon!! What does your scraproom look like? Leave me a link so I can check it out.

Pebbles Inc reveal...

This week it's Michele Beck's turn to host the Pebbles Inc blog and she challenged the DT to create a card and then include it on a layout. I love making cards and its so easy to do at the same time as scrapbooking. You already have the papers and embellies coordinated, so just create a card using your scraps. I have used the Lil' Buddy range by Pebbles Inc for my layout and teamed it with some new AC Thickers. These photos of Andrew and Seth were taken on Father's Day this year. Seth is definitely Andrew's little buddy - they are so alike and have so much fun together.Until Michele set this challenge, it hadn't occured to me to add a card to a layout, but I think it turned out really well. I have extra room for decoration/embellishment, but am still able to include journaling! btw - that little robot sticker is just adorable and I've been busting to add it to a layout since I got it!! lol. My other fav. are those candy dots - they are just divine! Love the matt finish.
Check out the Pebbles blog to see how the DT tackled this challenge.

Cheers, Lis.

Layouts to share...

Last Friday night I went along to the crop at Sar's and played with my Girl's Loft kit from October. I threw in some new Scrapware too. I normally steer well away from Halloween stuff since we don't celebrate it, however this year Sandra invited us to her annual Halloween party and the kids were so excited to dress up! Seth dressed as a skeleton, and the bones glowed which he was fascinated with. Eme went as a witch, but you'll have to wait to see those pics.
On this layout, I have include Scrapware's new witch and lettering, which I've coated in heat set powder and Allison Ellis glitter. Love that stuff! Super easy to apply.
Here's the Queen of Scream herself...Sandra! She thinks of absolutely everything for her Halloween parties! There was pumpkin carving, scary foods, bobbing for apples, slime and cobwebs and pinata...so much fun!
I made the flowers from the crepe paper and patty cake cases that were included in the kit. The orange spider was a ring from the kit that I cut down and I finished off the flower with ball trim.
Loads more photos were taken on the night, so plenty of layouts to come...watch this space!
Cheers, Lis.
